Patinter launches ‘Convivência Segura’ to raise awareness about road safety

Patinter has recently launched the ‘Convivência Segura’ project, an innovative initiative aimed at raising community awareness of the importance of road safety, with a special focus on interactions between light and heavy vehicles. The project’s debut took place on 15 November in Mangualde, in partnership with Escola de Condução Arede, where the municipal gardens were transformed into a dynamic and interactive learning environment.
Designed especially for future drivers, this educational initiative provided a unique opportunity for participants to step inside a truck, explore its technical features, and gain firsthand insight into the challenges faced by professional drivers.
With a strong emphasis on blind spots – one of the leading causes of accidents between light and heavy vehicles – other key topics covered included:
  • Safe overtaking and how to avoid risky situations;
  • Proper behaviour at junctions and roundabouts;
  • Rules for responsible coexistence between heavy and light vehicles.
This experience allowed participants to put themselves in the driver’s seat, gaining a fresh perspective on the demands and responsibilities of handling large vehicles.
Patinter has continuously invested in specialised training for its drivers, fleet modernisation, and the development of educational initiatives that promote a culture of safety and mutual respect on the road.
"The ‘Convivência Segura’ project reinforces our commitment to creating a safer road environment for everyone. We aim to increase awareness of the challenges faced by professional drivers and the importance of responsible driving,” highlights Armando Leite, Head of Road Safety at Patinter.
The event saw strong public engagement and marked the beginning of an educational project that Patinter intends to expand to other locations.
